Engineering Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage, mentor, and develop a team of product engineers

• Conduct planning sessions, establish product engineering strategies, and ensure consistent delivery

• Define the breakdown of work into agent-executable tasks, including kickoff prompts, acceptance criteria, UAT checkpoints, and completion reports

• Create human decision points for pull request approvals, merge processes, commit sign-offs, and user acceptance testing

• Design, construct, and sustain product features utilizing AI-native engineering

• Take ownership of database architecture and integrations that link the product with educational institutions

• Oversee SIS rostering pipelines utilizing OneRoster, Clever, and ClassLink

• Establish testing standards, CI checks, code review protocols, and security practices for a platform serving one million students each year

• Monitor and enhance the impact of AI-assisted development on team performance

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role as a team lead or engineering manager while remaining actively involved

• Strong full-stack expertise with React and TypeScript in production, along with substantial back-end experience using Node.js or equivalent technologies

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, IAM, or similar services)

• Proficient in PostgreSQL, encompassing schema design, query performance, and migrations

• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot applied to real production tasks

• Capability to efficiently review large amounts of human- or machine-written code and pinpoint critical issues

• Strong written communication skills for task specifications and prompts

• Sound judgment, pragmatism, and reliable ownership in uncertain situations

• Preferred: Experience in educational technology, SIS/rostering integrations (OneRoster, Clever, ClassLink), LMS ecosystems, or student data privacy (FERPA, COPPA)

• Preferred: Experience in developing or assessing LLM-powered product features, including prompt design, evaluations, and guardrails

• Preferred: Experience in scaling engineering processes in a growing organization
