Engineering Manager – Tripwires

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the team responsible for NodeZero Tripwires.

• Own the strategy for delivering decoy and deception development, detection, alerting, and enhancing the customer-facing experience.

• Collaborate with the Product team to prioritize the roadmap and broaden Tripwires coverage.

• Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers specializing in distributed systems and security.

• Oversee the design of tripwire types that entice attackers while mimicking legitimate assets.

• Invest in service level objectives (SLOs), observability, on-call duties, and incident response.

• Work alongside the Attack team to convert offensive insights into detection coverage.

• Establish design reviews, technical documentation, clear API contracts, and durable decision records.

• Remain engaged with technical details while supporting a significant data platform rebuild.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience managing backend, data, or platform engineering teams, with a history of successful project delivery through the team.

• Strong foundation in backend and distributed systems, encompassing data modeling, API design, queues/streams, and the trade-offs between batch and streaming.

• Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.

• Experience with containerization and observability tools such as Datadog or equivalent.

• Capability to lead through technical uncertainty and facilitate design discussions effectively.

• Proficient written communication skills for creating roadmaps, design documents, and postmortems.

• Responsible for the daily operations of the team.

• Practical knowledge of deception technologies, including honeypots, honeytokens, and canaries.

• Nice to have: experience with event-driven architectures or streaming platforms like Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, or Flink.

• Nice to have: understanding of credential access, lateral movement, and privilege escalation.

• Nice to have: a background in cybersecurity, penetration testing, or vulnerability management.

• Nice to have: familiarity with programming languages like Python and/or Go.
