Engineering Manager – Proactive Security, Platform

📋 Description

• Establish and implement the technical vision for the Security Engineering Platform team, focusing on AWS and GCP account/workload hardening and tier-0 services.

• Influence and enhance engineering standards by utilizing advancements and LLMs to boost productivity and speed.

• Take ownership of the hardening roadmap for tier-0 cloud infrastructure and access services.

• Adhere to stringent follow-the-sun on-call practices.

• Coach and mentor tech leads and engineers in a player-coach capacity.

• Oversee cloud hardening, identity, and secrets-management initiatives, while establishing robust controls.

• Collaborate with Core Infrastructure, Compute, Data, and other engineering platform teams.

• Provide tailored in-house services when vendor platform controls do not suffice.

• Develop and uphold operational excellence practices for tier-0 security platforms.

• Propel continuous hardening of AWS and GCP environments.

• Facilitate secure and responsible integration of AI tooling and agentic workflows from a platform hardening and access-control standpoint.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience as a Security or Infrastructure Platform Engineer in an internet-scale organization.

• At least 3 years of proven technical leadership in guiding teams to achieve outcomes at a global scale.

• Extensive hands-on expertise in hardening AWS and/or GCP at scale, covering account structure, guardrails, workload and network posture, and golden image pipelines.

• Proven technical leadership in managing access and secrets infrastructure such as Teleport, HashiCorp Vault, or similar PAM/secrets-management platforms.

• Familiarity with the on-call rigor necessary for managing tier-0 services.

• A history of building and maintaining highly available, no-downtime platform services.

• Established practices for on-call duties, incident responses, and root cause analysis.

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Security Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Demonstrated technical leadership in designing scalable security platform controls and processes that meet necessary regulatory requirements.

• Outstanding problem-solving abilities for complex, systemic infrastructure challenges.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• This role is available as a remote position within the US or Canada.
