This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Take ownership of the complete product data pipeline: from ingestion through feeds and plugins, to ML enhancement, moderation, and publication, ensuring clear SLAs for freshness, coverage, and quality.
• Spearhead the ML roadmap for catalogue intelligence, focusing on category tree and attribute coverage, translation quality, ML-assisted moderation, item embeddings, and recommendations.
• Manage extensive cross-team projects and guide them to successful production.
• Participate in quarterly planning and roadmap development; define and report on OKRs related to catalogue quality and personalization.
• Evaluate feature designs and ensure that non-functional requirements are satisfied, including ML assessment, inference costs, latency, and data residency.
• Establish and maintain evaluation and labeling infrastructure to assess model changes prior to production.
• Supervise technical debt management and incident resolution across ML and backend services.
• Recruit, assess, and inspire team members; cultivate ML engineers into accountable business outcome owners.
• Enhance cross-team collaboration with Shopping, Offers, Monetization, catalogue operations, and partner support.
• Promote a results-driven and business-focused culture.
• Track key team performance metrics.
• Provide process and delivery transparency for stakeholders and partner functions.
• Refine processes to boost productivity.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of ML engineers, backend and frontend engineers, QA, and a product analyst.
• Collaborate closely with Shopping, Offers, Monetization teams, catalogue operations, and partner support.
• 6+ years of engineering experience, including more than 3 years in building production ML systems (NLP, LLM applications, embeddings, or classification at scale).
• Over 2 years as an Engineering Manager or ML Team Lead in a rapidly growing e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech organization.
• Practical experience in launching LLM-based products: prompt and pipeline design, fine-tuning, evaluation, cost and latency management, self-hosted and API-based models.
• Experience in constructing and maintaining large-scale data and ML pipelines (both batch and streaming), ensuring they are observable, reproducible, and reliable.
• Strong backend fundamentals; adept at reviewing Go and Python services and reasoning about distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of ML evaluation: golden datasets, labeling processes, offline metrics, and A/B testing linked to business outcomes.
• Product vision that connects catalogue quality to conversion, discovery, and merchant growth.
• Proactive attitude and capacity to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher).
• Nice to have: experience with product catalogs, PIM systems, or marketplace content moderation.
• Nice to have: experience with Arabic-language content.
• Nice to have: familiarity with data residency and regulated-data requirements.
