This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance a robust engineering organization spanning multiple teams.
• Foster clarity, accountability, and growth for teams, managers, and leaders.
• Create a trustworthy cross-team delivery framework with clear priorities, ownership, dependencies, and capacity.
• Address trade-offs that individual teams are unable to resolve independently.
• Collaborate with Product and Design leadership to achieve domain-level outcomes and execution.
• Engage in discovery processes and translate business priorities into actionable cross-team plans.
• Negotiate project scope when AI-driven planning speed surpasses engineering validation and delivery capabilities.
• Uphold engineering standards and guarantee sufficient depth in technical decision reviews.
• Develop repeatable standards for sound technical judgment.
• Oversee production health throughout the engineering organization.
• Ensure teams can manage what they deliver and effectively respond to failures.
• Utilize delivery, quality, and reliability metrics to pinpoint interventions and tackle structural issues.
• Define organizational practices for delegation, verification, and review in AI-assisted engineering.
• Adapt hiring and leveling criteria to incorporate AI-native skills.
• Mentor managers as they transition their teams to AI-driven engineering.
• Proven experience leading engineers and managers through organizational scaling across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability to set expectations, coach employees at various levels, manage performance, support career development and promotions, and conduct challenging conversations.
• Technical expertise across more than one domain.
• Capability to engage in design reviews for Java, Python, C#, or similar programming languages.
• Proficiency in challenging API contracts and data models.
• Familiarity with failure modes and testing strategies.
• Experience managing production engineering across multiple teams operating on AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of observability, SLOs, on-call duties, incident response, and postmortem follow-ups.
• Background in leading secure, privacy-sensitive systems.
• Ability to challenge authentication and authorization decisions.
• Experience with threat modeling, sensitive data management, and security remediation.
• Preferred experience in PHI/HIPAA or similar regulated environments.
• Familiarity with using delivery, quality, reliability, and team health metrics, including cycle time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, escaped defects, MTTR, or operational load.
• Proven history of creating teams and managers capable of making independent decisions and eliminating organizational friction.
• Experience in leading AI-first engineering initiatives in practice.
• Ability to direct AI agents in real tasks and establish delegation and verification protocols.
• Bonus: Experience in managing other engineering managers, leading an AI-native organizational transition, or influencing hiring and leveling criteria at an organizational level.
