This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.
• Take ownership of the complete product data pipeline: from ingestion via feeds and plugins, through ML enhancement, moderation, and publication, ensuring clear SLAs for freshness, coverage, and quality.
• Direct the ML roadmap for catalogue intelligence, encompassing category tree and attribute coverage, translation quality, ML-assisted moderation, item embeddings, and recommendations.
• Spearhead large-scale cross-team initiatives and guide them to production.
• Contribute to quarterly planning and the definition of the roadmap; set and report OKRs for catalogue quality and personalization.
• Evaluate feature designs to guarantee that non-functional requirements are fulfilled, which include ML assessment, inference costs, latency, and data residency.
• Develop and maintain evaluation and labeling infrastructure to assess model changes prior to production deployment.
• Manage technical debt and incident resolution across ML and backend services.
• Recruit, assess, and inspire team members; cultivate ML engineers into accountable owners of business outcomes.
• Collaborate with Shopping, Offers, Monetization, catalogue operations, and partner support to enhance efficiency.
• Promote a results-driven and business-focused culture.
• Track essential team performance indicators.
• Ensure transparency in processes and deliveries for stakeholders and partner functions.
• Streamline processes to boost productivity.
• Lead a diverse team comprising ML engineers, backend and frontend engineers, QA, and a product analyst.
• Work closely with the Shopping, Offers, and Monetization teams, alongside catalogue operations and partner support.
• Over 6 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to building production ML systems (NLP, LLM applications, embeddings, or classification at scale).
• A minimum of 2 years serving as an Engineering Manager or ML Team Lead in a rapidly growing e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech organization.
• Practical experience in launching LLM-based products: prompt and pipeline design, fine-tuning, evaluation, cost and latency management, as well as self-hosted and API-based models.
• Proficient in constructing and managing large-scale data and ML pipelines (both batch and streaming), ensuring they are observable, reproducible, and reliable.
• Strong backend fundamentals; capable of reviewing Go and Python services and understanding distributed systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of ML evaluation: golden datasets, labeling workflows, offline metrics, and A/B testing linked to business outcomes.
• Product sense that connects catalogue quality to conversion, discovery, and merchant growth.
• Proactive attitude and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher).
• Nice to have: Experience with product catalogues, PIM systems, or marketplace content moderation.
• Nice to have: Experience with Arabic-language content.
• Nice to have: Familiarity with data residency and regulated data requirements.
