This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Take ownership of the complete product data pipeline, which includes data ingestion from feeds and plugins, machine learning enrichment, moderation, and publication.
• Direct the machine learning roadmap for catalog intelligence, encompassing category trees, attribute coverage, translation quality, ML-assisted moderation, item embeddings, and recommendations.
• Spearhead large-scale cross-team initiatives and drive them towards successful production.
• Contribute to quarterly planning and the definition of the roadmap; establish and report on OKRs related to catalog quality and personalization.
• Evaluate feature designs and ensure that non-functional requirements for ML evaluation, inference costs, latency, and data residency are met.
• Develop and maintain evaluation and labeling infrastructure to assess model changes prior to production deployment.
• Manage technical debt and incident response across machine learning and backend services.
• Recruit, assess, and inspire team members; cultivate ML engineers into leaders accountable for business outcomes.
• Collaborate with teams in Shopping, Offers, Monetization, catalog operations, and partner support.
• Promote a results-driven and business-oriented culture.
• Track key performance indicators for the team.
• Ensure transparency in processes and delivery for stakeholders and partner functions.
• Streamline processes to enhance productivity.
• Lead a cross-functional team of ML engineers, backend and frontend engineers, QA specialists, and a product analyst.
• Work closely with the Shopping, Offers, and Monetization teams, as well as catalog operations and partner support.
• A minimum of 6 years in engineering, with at least 3 years dedicated to building production-level machine learning systems (including NLP, LLM applications, embeddings, or classification at scale).
• At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager or ML Team Lead within a rapidly growing e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech organization.
• Practical experience in delivering LLM-based products, including prompt and pipeline design, fine-tuning, evaluation, cost and latency management, and both self-hosted and API-based models.
• Expertise in building and managing large-scale data and machine learning pipelines (both batch and streaming), ensuring they are observable, reproducible, and reliable.
• Strong foundational knowledge in backend development; skilled in reviewing Go and Python services and understanding distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of machine learning evaluation techniques: golden datasets, labeling workflows, offline metrics, and A/B testing connected to business results.
• Product intuition linking catalog quality to conversion, discovery, and merchant growth.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or above).
• Preferred: experience with product catalogs, PIM systems, or marketplace content moderation.
• Preferred: familiarity with Arabic-language content.
• Preferred: knowledge of data residency and regulated data requirements.
