This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee various Phone Core squads consisting of more than 10 engineers in areas such as CPaaS, Phone Billing, Trust & Compliance, and phone number provisioning.
• Take charge of high-level architecture and scaling decisions for essential Phone platform components, including CPaaS abstractions, provider adapters, and shared messaging/voice APIs.
• Manage the entire Phone Billing process, which encompasses usage metering, rating, reserve/commit lifecycle, idempotency, reconciliation, and maintaining audit trails.
• Transform Trust & Compliance systems into configuration-driven, rules-based platforms that adapt to regulatory and carrier demands.
• Lead efforts to enhance reliability, latency, and throughput across high-concurrency APIs and workflows.
• Promote observability and resilience through effective monitoring, alerting, and incident-response strategies.
• Leverage LLMs and AI tools to write, refactor, test, and debug code while implementing reliability safeguards.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, finance, and legal teams to ensure data integrity, access control, and compliance.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, develop leadership pipelines, plan for succession, and elevate hiring standards.
• Engage in design reviews, technical deep dives, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Manage multiple teams and products, establish the engineering framework, and set the technical direction.
• A minimum of 9 years of backend engineering experience along with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in designing fault-tolerant systems that operate at billions of hits or events.
• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.
• Experience in developing transactional systems that involve metering, ledgers, billing, payments, idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation.
• Proven track record in optimizing availability, performance, and reliability under load.
• Strong familiarity with relational and NoSQL data models, particularly for complex transactional data.
• Experience in designing policy- or rules-driven systems that adapt to external requirements.
• Knowledge of monitoring, SLOs, and root-cause analysis in production environments.
• Understanding of hallucination mitigation strategies, including code constraints, test scaffolding, embeddings, and context injection.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions with Finance, Legal, and external partners.
