Engineering Manager II – Monetisation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead the Monetization Platform team responsible for the architecture of billing and reselling.

• Manage architectural and scaling decisions related to ledgers, wallets, subscriptions, usage rating, auto-recharge, payment integrations, invoicing, and reselling/rebilling.

• Ensure financial accuracy through maintaining ledger integrity, idempotency, handling exactly-once usage, reconciliation, and auditability.

• Take charge of systems addressing fraud, abuse, and spend control, including velocity detection, anomaly detection, spend caps, circuit breakers, and retry policies.

• Drive cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing reliability, latency, and throughput across APIs and workflows.

• Advance monitoring, alerting, resilience, and incident response strategies.

• Utilize LLMs and AI tools for writing, refactoring, testing, and debugging code while maintaining reliability guardrails.

• Collaborate with teams across product, infrastructure, security, finance, risk, support, channel, and payment providers.

• Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers; establish leadership pipelines and succession plans.

• Engage in design reviews, deep dives, and on-call rotations.

• Oversee multiple teams/products, create the engineering system, determine technical direction, and cultivate leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• 9+ years of backend engineering experience with a minimum of 2+ years in a leadership role.

• Proven experience in designing fault-tolerant systems and working on high-scale platforms.

• Extensive expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.

• Background in maintaining strict consistency and correctness standards in billing, payments, ledgers, metering, or similar transactional fields.

• Proficiency in idempotency, exactly-once semantics, reconciliation, and audit trails.

• Experience optimizing availability, performance, and reliability of production systems under load.

• Strong familiarity with relational and NoSQL data models, particularly regarding complex transactional data.

• Experience in leading seasoned senior engineers and encouraging rigorous technical discussions.

• Knowledge of monitoring, SLOs, and root-cause analysis in production environments.

• Familiarity with strategies to mitigate hallucination, including code constraints, test scaffolding, embeddings, and context injection.

• Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Practical, hands-on leadership that balances long-term vision with iterative execution.

• Preferred: experience with fraud, abuse, risk-control systems, payment provider integrations, multi-tenant reselling or platform billing, AI tools, communication APIs, or contributions to open-source/internal platforms.
