
Engineering Manager – Foundations & Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Lead and provide support to a cross-functional Foundations & Enablement engineering team.
• Balance the team's technical roadmap with prioritized demands from various product teams.
• Transparently communicate roadmap and prioritization trade-offs.
• Maintain and enhance engineering-wide standards for security, tooling, CI/CD, and developer experience.
• Collaborate with the Infrastructure team on shared platform issues.
• Mentor and guide team members while fostering an environment of active coaching.
• Support technical decision-making and ensure efficient processes and delivery.
• Establish delivery estimates, track progress, navigate obstacles, and resolve blockers.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings, set goals, evaluate performance, and provide ongoing feedback.
• Encourage documentation, knowledge sharing, and open lines of communication within engineering.
• Cultivate a culture of empathy, openness, and positivity in the workplace.
• Enhance processes in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.
• Over 7 years of relevant experience in advanced software development, including at least 2 years in engineering leadership.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proficient in both frontend and backend engineering operations.
• Practical experience with scalability, reliability, observability, and security principles.
• Experience managing platform, DevOps, security, or developer-tooling initiatives.
• Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, best practices, and problem-solving techniques.
• Capability to guide senior and staff engineers.
• Familiarity with testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of incident response practices.
• Proven track record of leading teams to execute tasks, resolve blockers, and meet delivery commitments.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience in negotiating priorities among multiple teams.
• Confidence, attention to detail, and high levels of motivation.
• Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to utilize them judiciously with critical thinking.
