Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Manage software engineers and technical teams through 1:1 meetings, feedback, performance management, career development, and conflict resolution.

• Ensure clarity regarding ownership, commitments, risks, timelines, and escalations to guarantee delivery and accountability.

• Analyze workload and skill mix, suggesting movements, hiring, or priority changes based on capacity.

• Develop Dev Leads and domain leads in delegation, communication, planning, and leadership.

• Coordinate dependencies and collaboration among Development, Platform, VoIP, Data, QA, and external teams.

• Operatively manage contractors and vendors, including commitments, risks, dependencies, capacity, communication, and escalations in English.

• Define profiles, assess seniority during interviews, and build hiring plans.

• Identify recurring issues related to process, ownership, communication, or performance and implement improvements in the engineering system.

• Proven experience managing software engineers and/or technical teams.

• Track record of ownership over delivery and results, beyond merely coordinating tasks or tickets.

• Experience conducting 1:1s, providing feedback, managing performance, hiring, and developing individuals.

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and dependencies while maintaining clarity on priorities.

• Sufficient technical literacy to collaborate with Backend, Platform, Data, and other specialized domain leads, without needing to be the top technical expert on the team.

• Capability to question estimates, risks, and execution plans in a structured manner.

• Executive communication skills: ability to summarize problems, impacts, options, risks, owners, and required decisions.

• Professional spoken and written English to work directly with contractors, vendors, and external candidates.

• Ability to operate in ambiguous contexts and transform loosely structured priorities into a clear execution system.

• Plus: experience in organizations with microservices and Platform/SRE teams.

• Plus: experience working with distributed systems or high-availability products.

• Plus: experience coordinating consultancies, staff augmentation, or international remote teams.

• Plus: experience in B2B SaaS companies or platforms with multiple technical domains.

• Plus: experience managing teams with varying levels of seniority and domain specialists.
