Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead and develop a team of 8–10 engineers responsible for core trading backend services, such as the matching engine, market data gateways, and order entry systems.

• Guide the team in transitioning the trading stack from outdated systems to contemporary solutions.

• Maintain technical involvement to remove obstacles, review contributions, and engage in architectural discussions.

• Contribute to the matching engine, market data, and order entry tasks, including coding when necessary.

• Advocate for performance and prioritize market data initiatives.

• Introduce AI-driven engineering practices and assist engineers in their implementation.

• Collaborate with product teams and other engineering groups to execute the roadmap effectively.

• Represent the team in technical discussions with peer teams and stakeholders.

• Clearly communicate tradeoffs and progress updates.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing engineering teams, with a preference for managers who are technically involved.

• Hands-on experience with Linux in distributed and/or highly-concurrent systems or low-latency and/or high-volume transaction environments.

• Proficiency in Rust and/or C++.

• Comfortable working with C++, Rust, Go, and Python.

• Understanding of order types, trading systems, and financial products.

• Experience with Aeron or similar messaging/transport systems is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with multicast-based market data distribution is a plus.

• Knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain is highly desirable.

• A proactive mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks within a technically proficient team.

• Capability to meet tight deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative discipline.
