This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Technical Implementation: Design and execute automated solutions for cost monitoring, alerting, and optimization across various cloud platforms.
• Develop and sustain cost allocation algorithms and tagging strategies to ensure precise cost attribution.
• Establish integrations between cloud billing APIs and internal cost management systems.
• Produce technical documentation and best practices for creating cost-efficient infrastructure patterns.
• Collaborate with platform teams to enact cost optimization recommendations.
• Engineering Excellence: Create tools and automation to facilitate FinOps processes across fourteen product groups and eleven platform groups.
• Construct dashboards and reporting systems to provide real-time visibility into costs.
• Implement cost guardrails and automated policies to avert cost overruns.
• Design scalable solutions for the collection, processing, and analysis of cost data.
• Contribute to the TechOps Analytics Data Solution's FinOps requirements.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product engineering teams to discover and apply cost optimization opportunities.
• Work closely with the Infrastructure Foundations Program to ensure technical solutions align with the FY27 Cost Reduction Program.
• Provide technical expertise and implementation guidance to the FinOps Working Group.
• Collaborate with the Data Analytics Team on the development of cost data pipelines.
• Offer technical insights for the roadmap of FinOps capability development.
• Continuous Improvement: Research and assess new tools and techniques for cost optimization.
• Contribute to the development of FinOps governance structures and technical standards.
• Mentor junior engineers on engineering practices that prioritize cost efficiency.
• Stay updated on changes in cloud platform pricing and optimization opportunities.
• Must be eligible for CJIS clearance (requires U.S. citizenship or Green Card/permanent resident status).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience focusing on cloud infrastructure.
• Strong programming capabilities in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their cost management tools.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Proficient with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, etc.).
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner certification (or a commitment to obtain within 6 months) is preferred.
• Background in cybersecurity or the SaaS industry is preferred.
• Experience with commitment-based discount programs (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, CUDs) is preferred.
• Experience in data pipeline development and ETL processes is preferred.
• Familiarity with cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, Cloudability, etc.) is preferred.
