Energy & Sustainability Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead comprehensive energy management and decarbonization programs for multiple or single client assignments.

• Report directly to the Sustainable Operations Director.

• Oversee energy management initiatives that achieve energy savings, reduce carbon footprints, and optimize utility costs.

• Perform facility energy audits and technical assessments to pinpoint energy conservation opportunities and facility improvement retrofits.

• Assess technical feasibility, risks, lifecycle costs, and ROI for facility projects.

• Draft technical project scopes for capital retrofits and operational enhancements.

• Implement Measurement & Verification frameworks and monitor performance against contractual savings guarantees.

• Secure utility rebates and government grants for decarbonization efforts.

• Manage the collection of energy data and generate monthly and quarterly reports for clients.

• Analyze electrical and gas consumption patterns to identify operational discrepancies.

• Review utility bills for rate optimization, demand charge reductions, and billing inaccuracies.

• Prepare energy consumption and GHG emission reports for sustainability disclosures.

• Provide technical documentation for utility compliance and regulatory audits.

• Collaborate with Site Facility Managers to assess operations, equipment schedules, and BAS sequences.

• Recommend strategies to minimize energy intensity while ensuring comfort, safety, and critical environment standards are maintained.

• Educate stakeholders on energy and sustainability issues.

• Create decarbonization roadmaps and phased capital retrofit strategies.

• Enhance sustainability performance across a wide range of portfolios.

• Develop systems and processes for delivering best practices in sustainability.

• Work with JLL energy managers on best practices, case studies, and new business initiatives.

• Mentor and train junior team members.

• Lead the technical support team in addressing complex challenges and managing priorities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.

• Specialized technical knowledge of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems and their implications for sustainability objectives.

• Advanced understanding of energy conservation techniques.

• Capability to analyze corporate portfolios through benchmarking and reviewing utility data.

• Advanced knowledge of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting practices.

• Familiarity with energy procurement processes and renewable energy alternatives.

• Ability to articulate complex concepts and facilitate the adoption of varying viewpoints.

• Proven leadership in guiding technical support teams to resolve intricate problems and meet deadlines.

• Experience conducting site assessments, including ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 evaluations.

• Strong project management and prioritization capabilities.

• Experience with technical and feasibility assessments, lifecycle cost analysis (LCCA), and ROI evaluations.

• Familiarity with implementing Measurement & Verification (M&V) frameworks and performance monitoring systems.

• Knowledge of utility rebate programs and government decarbonization incentives.

• Experience in preparing tenders and work orders, along with selecting equipment and service providers.

• Specialized expertise in environmental reporting, utility management, energy budgeting, environmental improvement initiatives, and ISO 14001 compliance.

• Experience collaborating with multifunctional teams.

• Experience managing small teams of energy and sustainability professionals.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
