
Energy Origination – Hedging Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead the origination of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), utility interconnection agreements, and energy supply contracts.
• Conduct analyses of Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) and Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return (NPV/IRR) to compare utility, hybrid, and islanded power strategies.
• Assess and implement power and fuel price hedging strategies to mitigate risks and facilitate GPU financing.
• Structure fixed-price contracts, heat rate call options, financial swaps, basis swaps, and NYMEX and OTC gas instruments.
• Model peak demand exposure and pinpoint tariff, demand response, or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) strategies to minimize costs.
• Generate site-specific energy cost forecasts utilizing tariff structures and market price trends.
• Engage in negotiations with utilities, Solaris, VoltaGrid, and fuel suppliers.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of RTO/ISO processes, tariff structures, state regulatory risks, and energy market dynamics.
• Simplify complex risk and financial analyses for senior leadership.
• Substantial experience in energy origination, commodity/power trading, or utility-scale power markets.
• Direct involvement in contract negotiation and deal execution.
• Proven ability to build and rigorously test LCOE, NPV, and IRR models.
• Practical experience in evaluating or executing power and gas hedges, including swaps, options, NYMEX, or OTC gas.
• Previous experience managing commodity risk is a significant advantage.
• Strong negotiation skills with utilities and counterparties.
• Ability to communicate complex risk and financial analyses to senior leadership effectively.
• Experience in procuring or structuring power for data centers, hyperscale operations, or large industrial/AI infrastructure loads is preferred.
• Familiarity with RTO/ISO markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, and SPP, along with their tariff and settlement structures is preferred.
• Exposure to project or asset financing where power costs and hedges influence financing structures is preferred.
• Background in a utility, energy trading desk, Independent Power Producer (IPP), data center development, or commodity risk management group is preferred.
