This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Develop and submit daily operational plans between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM Alberta time for current and upcoming asset activities.
• Present asset offers to the Independent System Operator prior to market deadlines.
• Confirm acceptance of plans by the system operator before transitioning to monitoring mode.
• Collaborate with internal teams and on-site operators to execute plans within the morning timeframe.
• Oversee operations in relation to the accepted plan for the remainder of the shift.
• Monitor web-based portals and communication systems for alerts, notifications, and messages from the system operator.
• React to system operator notifications within two minutes and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that instructed actions are completed and confirmations are obtained.
• Function as the communication link between on-site generation asset operators, system operators, and internal teams.
• Implement documented operating procedures when alerts are triggered, which includes categorizing issues, contacting relevant parties, gathering information, and providing updates.
• Engage directly with external operators through internet-based phone and digital communication channels.
• Conduct a 15-minute handover at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Participate in quarterly cross-team meetings with the Alberta-based crew.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Power Dispatcher, System Operator, Grid Operator, or Control Center Operator within the Philippine utility or energy sector.
• Practical experience in Independent System Operator (ISO) coordination, specifically in building and submitting daily operational plans or asset offers within market deadlines.
• Background in energy trading or generation asset dispatch, covering market offers, scheduling, or grid compliance.
• Experience in a 24/7 operations center with documented response-time requirements of under five minutes.
• External-facing operational communication skills with on-site operators, system operators, or regulatory agencies via phone and web-based portals.
• Availability for 12.5-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM Mountain Time on a seven-day rotation, including holidays.
• Reliable wired internet connection along with a documented backup connection, such as an LTE hotspot or satellite service from a different provider.
• Proficiency in C1+ English (CEFR) for real-time phone coordination with external operators and system operators.
• Preferred coding or scripting skills for workflow automation using Python, VBA, or similar micro-scripts.
• Experience with SCADA or energy management system (EMS) platforms is preferred.
• Dispatcher certification or qualifications in power systems/electrical engineering are preferred.
• Ability to quickly onboard onto multiple web-based operations portals is preferred.
• Experience across various asset classes—transmission, generation, or distribution—is preferred.
