This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Create precise and thorough project estimates for intricate retrofit, upgrade, repowering, and restoration initiatives within utility-scale renewable energy facilities.
• Examine engineering documentation, design packages, one-line diagrams, bills of material, and project specifications.
• Generate detailed bottoms-up cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, rentals, mobilization, and other project-related expenses.
• Analyze as-built documentation and perform quantity takeoffs for restoration and brownfield upgrade projects.
• Conduct electrical takeoffs from engineering design packages and field documentation.
• Formulate estimate assumptions, exclusions, allowances, escalation factors, and contingency strategies.
• Collaborate with project development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to confirm scope assumptions and pinpoint project risks.
• Develop and sustain databases for materials, equipment, labor, and productivity.
• Assess vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Carry out site visits and work with subject matter experts to evaluate existing conditions and establish project scopes and cost estimates.
• Incorporate actual project costs, execution feedback, and lessons learned into estimating methodologies.
• Assist in proposal development, customer-facing discussions, and internal estimate reviews.
• Experience in estimating electrical construction work for an electrical contractor, EPC contractor, or a similar entity.
• Familiarity with evaluating and estimating work on existing facilities where documentation may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable.
• Understanding of cost estimating best practices, methodologies, and estimating software tools.
• Proficiency in performing quantity takeoffs, labor modeling, productivity analysis, vendor quote evaluation, and contingency development.
• Capability to effectively communicate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and recommendations to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Direct experience in estimating for utility-scale solar, BESS, repowering, restoration, or brownfield projects is preferred.
• Experience with InEight Estimating or comparable estimating software is preferred.
• Strong grasp of electrical commodity pricing and market drivers, including cable, switchgear, transformers, and collection systems.
