
Electrical Engineering Lead, Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
β’ Design and implement electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, encompassing both medium- and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems.
β’ Create and manage electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings.
β’ Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations, including NEC and IEC standards.
β’ Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to establish specifications, design criteria, and project budgets.
β’ Analyze electrical systems to detect and resolve issues, focusing on load balancing, capacity planning, and optimizing power consumption.
β’ Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of electrical systems, which includes preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs.
β’ Develop and execute electrical safety procedures and training programs.
β’ Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering and data center technology, and recommend enhancements.
β’ Take responsibility for the success of projects within the electrical discipline.
β’ Offer specialized technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to mid-level engineers.
β’ Approve and authorize work as the Engineer of Record.
β’ Provide engineering budget and schedule estimates for large, intricate projects.
β’ Lead technical client relationships and play a significant role in business development.
β’ Collaborate with global AECOM teams on prominent data center projects.
β’ Occasionally travel for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other essential activities.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering with ten (10) years of relevant experience in electrical design and/or electrical engineering, particularly focused on data center infrastructure, or a demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
β’ A Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is mandatory.
β’ Significant experience in electrical engineering for data centers or other critical facilities.
β’ In-depth knowledge of NEC (NFPA70).
β’ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
β’ Capability to build and sustain strong client relationships.
β’ Creative thinking and ability to identify opportunities to enhance client experiences.
β’ Experience using building information modeling (BIM) software, specifically ACC Cloud.
β’ Familiarity with data center design and construction, including design criteria and industry standards.
β’ Must be eligible to work in the United States.
