3D Electrical Design Engineer – III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, coordinate, and sustain intricate 3D models, layouts, and renderings for utility-scale PV and BESS projects using Autodesk Inventor.

• Generate production-ready 3D representations of BESS, inverters, transformers, switchgear, cable management systems, equipment pads, racking, structural supports, and balance-of-system components.

• Address electrical layout challenges related to cable routing, conduit and trench coordination, equipment clearances, grounding, and interconnections.

• Take ownership of assigned project models, ensuring organization, revision control, file management, and documentation integrity.

• Resolve spatial conflicts, constructability issues, and interface conditions among civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical disciplines.

• Produce and review sheet sets, technical drawings, details, and renderings based on 3D models.

• Develop modeling techniques, templates, libraries, and automation strategies.

• Assess emerging modeling technologies and digital engineering workflows.

• Coordinate 3D designs for multiple simultaneous PV and BESS projects.

• Assist with scopes, estimates, schedules, resource requirements, and technical assumptions related to 3D design tasks.

• Identify technical risks, coordination conflicts, and schedule impacts while recommending solutions.

• Support fabrication, procurement, and installation planning through coordinated constructible models.

• Review models, drawings, and deliverables as part of QA/QC processes.

• Examine vendor- and client-supplied models and document any discrepancies.

• Ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, industry codes, and regulations.

• Coordinate designers and align deliverables with project timelines and priorities.

• Develop training materials, technical documentation, and lessons learned.

• Coordinate model interfaces and constructability requirements with engineers and construction stakeholders.

• Present models and visualizations during client design reviews.

• Advise project managers and discipline leads on modeling strategies, sequencing, and technical trade-offs.

• Meet deliverables and deadlines while performing related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, design, drafting/CADD, or a related technical field, or equivalent applicable work experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design, technical design, or drafting for power generation, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

• At least 5 years of professional experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar software to create 3D infrastructure designs in a professional setting.

• Electrical design background involving cable routing, cable management, grounding, equipment interconnections, and layout for large-scale power generation or similar industrial projects.

• Experience in coordinating design efforts across civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.

• Proven experience in producing and reviewing sheet sets and design documentation derived from 3D models.

• Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments with minimal guidance and demonstrate sound technical judgment.

• Experience with utility-scale BESS and solar PV projects is preferred.

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or other Autodesk design tools is preferred.

• Knowledge of DC and AC systems, cable schedules, conduit and trenching, cable tray, grounding, and equipment interconnection is preferred.

• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, or other relevant electrical and safety standards is preferred.

• Experience mentoring designers or participating in client-facing design reviews and technical coordination meetings is preferred.
