This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the Engineer of Record for electrical designs related to microgrids, taking ownership of system-level integration among PV, BESS, generation, and distribution assets.
• Create comprehensive electrical design deliverables, which include one-line and three-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection and coordination studies, and interconnection designs.
• Integrate medium and low voltage distribution designs with generation and storage assets while ensuring adherence to utility interconnection requirements and relevant codes and standards.
• Coordinate the design of protection schemes and the interface requirements for controls and SCADA across various vendors and disciplines.
• Oversee the technical review of EPC and OEM deliverables to ensure compliance with client standards and project performance criteria.
• Collaborate with clients, EPCs, and equipment vendors to address design challenges and verify constructability.
• Assist with permitting, interconnection applications, and utility coordination.
• Engage in or lead multidisciplinary design reviews for microgrid and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) projects.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, emphasizing power systems.
• 4 to 8 years of experience in detailed electrical design and system integration for microgrid, distribution, generation, or storage projects.
• Proven experience in designing and integrating various DER asset types (PV, BESS, generators) into a unified electrical system.
• Proficient in MV and LV distribution system design, protection coordination, and interconnection design.
• Familiarity with controls and SCADA interface requirements related to electrical system design.
• PE license or the capability to obtain PE licensure is preferred.
• Previous experience with VRFB, lithium-ion, or other BESS technologies at the electrical design level is preferred.
• Knowledge of integrating reciprocating engine/turbine generators is preferred.
• Prior experience as Engineer of Record on one or more completed microgrid or DER projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with utility interconnection standards and processes is preferred.
