Electrical Engineer II – BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Design Battery Energy Storage Systems, as well as DC and medium voltage systems, which include switchgear and distribution systems.

• Conduct reviews or execute system studies, such as ampacity, load flow, short circuit analysis, and loss studies.

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the design, analysis, and progress of engineering projects.

• Engage with clients to understand and interpret their needs and requirements.

• Review equipment drawings from manufacturers.

• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.

• Perform quality control and verification on project deliverables, including drawings and studies.

• Review engineering deliverables and initiate necessary corrective measures.

• Guide designers and drafters on drawing specifications.

• Collaborate and communicate with the BESS Manager, Project Manager, and multidisciplinary team members to provide technical support.

• Assist in the development of standards, optimizations, and processes.

• Work with the team to adapt to evolving trends in technology.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering.

• A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering is preferred.

• Over 3 years of experience in BESS, renewable energy, distribution, or medium voltage power systems.

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, with the capability to obtain a PE license in the future.

• Experience in designing medium and low voltage cabling systems.

• Experience with the design of switchgears, switchboards, panelboards, breakers, and other protective devices.

• Familiarity with various battery container systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Battery Management Systems (BMS).

• Experience in designing with different Inverter/Power Conversion System (PCS) equipment.

• Knowledge of codes and standards, including IEEE, NESC, NEC, and NFPA.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to schedule, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

• Capability to work collaboratively within a team setting.

• Proficient communication skills for efficient reporting at all levels, both internal and external.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Experience in system studies using software such as CYME, ETAP, or similar software is a plus.

• Familiarity with HOMER Energy Toolbase, ESWare, or similar modeling software is advantageous.

• Experience with photovoltaic (PV) and wind systems is a plus.

• Construction experience is beneficial.

• Experience working with BESS connections to existing transmission, distribution, substations, and/or solar and wind projects and regulations is a plus.

• For U.S. hires, verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States is required.
