Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Provide support for essential electrical and control system sustainment and modernization initiatives within a Department of Defense environment.

• Act as a mentee to a retiring government engineer to ensure the continuity of system expertise.

• Create, modify, and maintain Ladder Logic for programmable logic controllers.

• Integrate and support Allen-Bradley PLC platforms utilizing Rockwell Automation software tools.

• Conduct system integration using Studio 5000 / CompactLogix environments, version 21 or newer.

• Diagnose electrical and control system problems at both the system and subsystem levels.

• Create and update electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.

• Assist in the design, review, and troubleshooting of Printed Circuit Boards.

• Assemble, test, and validate electrical and control system assemblies.

• Support LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems.

• Provide limited support for FPGA-based integration as a secondary responsibility.

• Contribute to the long-term lifecycle sustainment and modernization of current control architectures.

• Deliver technical knowledge transfer and documentation to support workforce succession.

• Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program management.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active Secret or higher security clearance is required.

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is necessary.

• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is required.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and troubleshooting Ladder Logic-based control systems.

• Proficiency in using Rockwell Automation software tools, including Studio 5000 / CompactLogix.

• Experience in developing electrical schematics with AutoCAD Electrical.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical and control system issues.

• Experience in assembling and testing electrical or control system hardware.

• Capability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in a technical context.

• Eligibility to acquire and maintain a DoD clearance is required.

• CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of employment commencement.
