Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, modify, and oversee Ladder Logic for programmable logic controllers.

• Integrate and provide support for Allen-Bradley PLC platforms utilizing Rockwell Automation software tools.

• Conduct system integration in Studio 5000 / CompactLogix environments, version 21 or higher.

• Diagnose electrical and control system problems at both the system and subsystem levels.

• Create and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams with AutoCAD Electrical.

• Assist with Printed Circuit Board design, evaluation, and troubleshooting.

• Construct, test, and verify electrical and control system assemblies.

• Provide support for LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems.

• Offer limited FPGA-based integration support as a secondary responsibility.

• Aid in the long-term lifecycle management and modernization of current control architectures.

• Facilitate technical knowledge transfer and documentation to ensure workforce succession.

• Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.

• Act as an apprentice to a retiring government engineer to maintain continuity of system knowledge.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active Secret or higher security clearance is mandatory.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.

• Prior experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is essential.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and troubleshooting Ladder Logic-based control systems is necessary.

• Familiarity with Rockwell Automation software tools, including Studio 5000 / CompactLogix, is required.

• Experience in creating electrical schematics with AutoCAD Electrical is necessary.

• Proven background in troubleshooting electrical and control system challenges is essential.

• Experience in assembling and testing electrical or control system hardware is required.

• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting is necessary.

• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills are required.

• Eligibility to acquire and maintain a DoD clearance is mandatory.

• CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

• Experience with LabVIEW-based control systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with FPGA integration or mixed FPGA/PLC environments is a plus.

• Prior experience supporting legacy control systems and modernization initiatives is preferred.

• Experience in supporting government or defense programs is advantageous.
