Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, modify, and maintain Ladder Logic for programmable logic controllers.

• Integrate and provide support for Allen-Bradley PLC platforms utilizing Rockwell Automation software tools.

• Execute system integration tasks in Studio 5000 / CompactLogix environments, version 21 or newer.

• Diagnose electrical and control system problems at both system and subsystem levels.

• Create and sustain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.

• Assist with Printed Circuit Board design, evaluation, and troubleshooting.

• Build, test, and validate electrical and control system assemblies.

• Provide support for LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems.

• Offer limited assistance for FPGA-based integration as a secondary responsibility.

• Aid in the long-term lifecycle sustainment and modernization of existing control architectures.

• Facilitate technical knowledge transfer and documentation to support workforce succession.

• Communicate technical statuses, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.

• Act as an understudy to a retiring government engineer to ensure continuity in system knowledge.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

• Active Secret or higher security clearance is mandatory.

• Eligibility for clearance to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance is required.

• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is essential.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and troubleshooting Ladder Logic-based control systems.

• Familiarity with Rockwell Automation software tools, including Studio 5000 / CompactLogix.

• Proficient in developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.

• Experience in diagnosing electrical and control system issues is necessary.

• Background in assembling and testing electrical or control system hardware.

• Capability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience with LabVIEW-based control systems is preferred.

• Background in FPGA integration or mixed FPGA/PLC environments is preferred.

• Experience in supporting legacy control systems and modernization initiatives is preferred.

• Previous experience with government or defense programs is advantageous.

• CompTIA Security+ certification is desired; must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
