EHS Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of safety and regulatory compliance for Giga's field service division.

• Develop and implement EHS programs for a geographically diverse workforce operating across multiple states.

• Educate crews and mentor technicians on electrical safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.

• Be actively involved on-site during energized tasks and collaborate closely with the Field Service Manager.

• Create and uphold written EHS programs that meet the standards of Federal OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and Nevada OSHA.

• Monitor regulatory updates and adjust programs, training, and documentation accordingly.

• Maintain the California-specific Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Heat Illness Prevention Plan elements.

• Act as the main point of contact for OSHA inspections, inquiries, and audits.

• Manage electrical safety/arc flash, lockout/tagout, working at height, powered industrial trucks/mechanized equipment, and rigging programs.

• Create job hazard analyses and pre-task hazard assessments.

• Set standards for personal protective equipment, tools, and safety gear.

• Design and deliver training for field service personnel.

• Travel to job sites to observe work processes, coach staff, and provide hands-on assistance.

• Keep training records and certifications up to date.

• Integrate safety accountability into scheduling, dispatching, and performance management expectations.

• Conduct investigations into incidents, near-misses, and injuries.

• Maintain compliance with OSHA 300/300A/301 recordkeeping and state reporting requirements.

• Identify patterns and implement corrective actions.

• Collaborate with customer locations and host employers regarding site-specific safety protocols.

• Ensure personnel possess the necessary documentation for access to customer and partner sites.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of EHS experience in support of field service, construction, or mobile/distributed workforces.

• Proficient understanding of Federal OSHA 1910/1926 standards, with direct experience applying Cal/OSHA and/or Nevada OSHA regulations.

• Background in electrical safety programs (NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout) relevant to field electrical testing and service operations.

• Willingness and capability to travel about 40% of the time to job sites in Texas, California, and Nevada.

• Exceptional communication and coaching abilities, with a talent for fostering safety commitment among a mobile workforce.

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or equivalent certification.

• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification; NFPA 70E qualified electrical worker training.

• Experience assisting electrical engineers or technicians with transformer, switchgear, or medium-voltage equipment testing.

• Proven experience in developing or expanding an EHS program across multiple states or regulatory environments.
