This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Lead regional business development efforts and manage key accounts.
• Discover new market prospects and assist with mergers and acquisitions when necessary.
• Work in collaboration with both global and regional leadership teams to meet strategic goals.
• Support and promote global sales and business development strategies for the commercial and onsite Geochemistry Laboratory SBUs.
• Attain the annual regional revenue goal through teamwork with affiliate sales and operations teams.
• Establish and evaluate pricing based on cost assessments and regional market insights.
• Offer strategic direction on regional business development initiatives.
• Aid local sales teams in preparing intricate client quotes, service agreements, proposals, RFS/RFP responses, and tenders.
• Partner with technical and operational teams to plan, track, communicate, and fulfill project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Encourage cross-selling opportunities across SGS business lines and services.
• Assist in formulating the annual sales strategy, encompassing product/service targets, competitive actions, sales efforts, and promotional programs.
• Coordinate sales activities with relevant team members.
• Compile regional sales pipeline and market intelligence reports for senior management.
• Identify major and mid-tier global key accounts and create strategic account plans.
• Represent the customer’s interests within SGS and establish suitable customer expectations.
• Monitor business development activities and track successful projects through completion using SGS systems, including CRM.
• Engage in industry events and conduct direct client and sales development interactions.
• Support global sales and business development efforts, including market research and marketing initiatives.
• Guide and assist the regional client services team.
• Keep an eye on industry trends, commodity cycles, customer needs, and competitor actions.
• Identify possibilities for new service offerings, digital solutions, laboratory technologies, and strategic alliances.
• Collaborate with Global Geochemistry leadership to introduce new products and services.
• Comply with SGS quality and safety standards.
• Carry out additional reasonable tasks assigned by the direct line manager.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mining Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• A postgraduate qualification in Business Management, Marketing, or an MBA is a plus.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the service industry for Mining and Minerals or within a prominent mining organization or similar industry.
• Demonstrable success in business growth/business development with at least USD$20 million annual revenue in the TIC sector.
• At least 5 years of experience in key account management.
• Capacity to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in English (reading, speaking, writing).
• Strong planning and organizational abilities.
• Problem-solving capability.
• Ability to adapt and respond to change.
• A combination of strategic and business development skill sets.
• Willingness to travel frequently for business purposes.
