This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +4 more states.
β’ Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants to promptly and effectively address patent-related concerns.
β’ Manage docketing databases for both domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
β’ Input, track, and resolve deadlines while scanning and attaching pertinent patent images.
β’ Assess communications related to domestic and international patent filings, prosecution, renewals, and Patent Trial and Appeal Board issues to determine necessary actions and due dates.
β’ Review online resources to verify the status of both foreign and domestic patents.
β’ Conduct quality checks on docketed events, deadlines, and matter information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
β’ Raise discrepancies when appropriate.
β’ Generate regularly scheduled and specially requested docket reports for clients and legal professionals.
β’ Support special projects and carry out additional tasks assigned by attorneys, paralegals, and the Manager.
β’ Work collaboratively with colleagues across all firm locations as part of a cohesive team.
β’ 5β7 years of relevant patent docketing experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment.
β’ Comprehensive responsibility for patent prosecution docketing.
β’ Extensive knowledge of U.S., foreign, and PCT patent docketing processes.
β’ Strong grasp of USPTO regulations, international patent protocols, statutory deadlines, and national/regional phase requirements.
β’ Proficient in analyzing patent correspondence, calculating and verifying deadlines, identifying potential docketing issues, and escalating concerns as necessary.
β’ Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
β’ Experience in supporting U.S. and foreign patent filings.
β’ High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
β’ Additional college or business education is preferred.
β’ Dependability and professionalism are essential.
β’ Willingness to work extra hours when required by business demands.
