District Sales Manager – Trainee

📋 Description

• Engage in ERIE’s 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program.

• Execute assigned projects independently utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired.

• Acquire and execute field and home office sales duties, which include sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations.

• Support operations within designated Agent offices.

• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting practices, agency operations, and sales techniques.

• Consult with Agents and clients on proposed business and collect underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection.

• Provide advice to clients on the necessary coverages to meet their specific insurance objectives.

• Join sales managers, claims, and underwriting personnel on Agent visits, including brief inspections.

• Foster productive working relationships with Agents to support ERIE’s quality growth.

• Uphold positive Policyholder relationships as a representative of the company.

• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to address issues.

• Respond to questions from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office personnel concerning claims issues.

• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents.

• Assess prospective and existing risks and compile reports, including scaled drawings and photographs.

• Aid in reviewing inspection findings with Policyholders.

• Clarify recommendations regarding hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss prevention measures.

• Participate in the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.

• Attend Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and engage in examinations.

• After successfully completing the training, oversee a territory of roughly 25 Independent Agencies.

• Mentor and support Independent Agents in achieving their business objectives.

• Manage territory performance in areas of sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency administration.

• Recruit, train, and nurture new Agents.

• Act as a trusted business partner and ERIE product resource.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience is acceptable; or a high school diploma/GED accompanied by four years of relevant experience is also required.

• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software is necessary.

• A willingness to relocate to other offices is mandatory.

• Frequent travel is required.

• A commitment to pursuing insurance designations is expected.

• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is essential to finalize the training program.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

• Comfort with frequent travel and geographic mobility is essential.

• Capability to perform necessary physical activities, including frequent driving and occasional lifting/moving tasks.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Completion of insurance designations such as CIC or CPCU is preferred.
