This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in the 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program.
• Independently complete assigned projects utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired.
• Learn and execute fundamental responsibilities in field and home office sales, sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations.
• Provide support in operations at designated Agent offices.
• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Discuss proposed business matters with Agents and clients, collecting underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection.
• Guide clients on necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives.
• Accompany sales managers, claims, and underwriting professionals during Agent visits, including short-form inspections.
• Cultivate productive working relationships with Agents to promote ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive Policyholder relationships as a representative of the company.
• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to resolve issues.
• Address inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office staff regarding claims matters.
• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents.
• Examine prospective and existing risks, compiling reports that include scaled drawings and photographs.
• Aid in reviewing inspection findings with Policyholders and elucidate hazard-reduction and loss-prevention recommendations.
• Participate in the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
• Attend Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and engage in examinations.
• Fulfill special project requirements as needed.
• Upon successful completion, oversee a territory of approximately 25 Independent Agencies.
• Mentor and support Independent Agents in achieving their business objectives.
• Manage territory performance across sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management.
• Recruit, train, and develop new Agents.
• Act as a trusted business partner and ERIE product resource.
• Bachelor's degree required; or an Associate's degree with two years of experience in sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing; or a high school diploma/GED with four years of experience in sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
• Willingness to relocate to other offices is essential.
• Frequent travel is required.
• Commitment to pursuing insurance designations is necessary.
• Successful passing of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is required to complete the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
• Comfortable with frequent travel and geographical mobility.
