This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in ERIE’s 24-week training and development program for District Sales Managers.
• Independently complete assigned projects utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired.
• Learn and execute sales responsibilities in both field and home office settings, including sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations.
• Provide support in the operations of designated Agent offices.
• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting principles, Agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Discuss potential business opportunities with Agents and clients, collecting underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection.
• Advise clients on essential coverages to meet their specific insurance objectives.
• Accompany sales managers, claims personnel, and underwriting staff during Agent visits, which may include short-form inspections.
• Cultivate effective working relationships with Agents to foster ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive relationships with Policyholders as a representative of the company.
• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to resolve issues and related concerns.
• Address inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office staff regarding claims matters.
• Implement sales promotion initiatives and convey pertinent information to Agents.
• Assess both prospective and existing risks, preparing reports that include scaled drawings and photographs.
• Assist in reviewing inspection outcomes with Policyholders.
• Clarify recommendations regarding hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss prevention measures.
• Attend the annual sales conference and participate in Agent education exchange seminars.
• Enroll in Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and take part in examinations.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• After successfully completing training, transition into a District Sales Manager position overseeing approximately 25 Independent Agencies.
• Coach and support Independent Agents in reaching their business objectives.
• Manage performance within the territory, focusing on sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management.
• Recruit, train, and cultivate new Agents.
• Act as a reliable business partner and ERIE product resource.
• Relocate to and establish residency within the assigned territory post-training; work remotely from the territory.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; or an Associate’s degree with two years of experience in sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing; or a High school diploma or GED with four years of experience in the above fields.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
• A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is essential.
• A willingness to relocate to other offices is required.
• Frequent travel is necessary.
• A commitment to pursuing insurance designations is required.
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is required to finish the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are mandatory.
• Comfort with frequent travel and geographic mobility is essential.
• Ability to lead through influence and establish trusted relationships is necessary.
• Capacity to think strategically and take ownership of results is required.
• Ability to learn swiftly and adapt to change is essential.
• Motivation to assist others in achieving success is required.
• Regular and predictable attendance is mandatory.
• Capability to meet specified physical requirements, including frequent driving and the occasional lifting/moving of items weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs using lifting-aide equipment.
