This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in ERIE’s 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program
• Independently complete assigned projects utilizing the information and skills acquired
• Learn and execute field and home office sales, sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations
• Provide assistance with operations in designated Agent offices
• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, agency operations, and sales strategies
• Discuss potential business opportunities with Agents and clients while gathering underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection
• Counsel clients on necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives
• Accompany sales managers, claims personnel, and underwriters during Agent visits and short-form inspections
• Cultivate productive working relationships with Independent Agents
• Uphold positive Policyholder relationships and address claims-related issues alongside adjusters and claims staff
• Respond to inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office personnel concerning claims issues
• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents
• Evaluate prospective and existing risks and compile reports, including scaled drawings and photographs
• Review inspection findings with Policyholders and clarify hazard-reduction and loss-prevention suggestions
• Attend annual sales conferences and Agent education exchange seminars
• Participate in Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and complete associated exams
• After training, oversee a territory of roughly 25 Independent Agencies, managing sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management performance
• Recruit, train, and mentor new Agents
• Act as a reliable business partner and ERIE product expert
• Bachelor’s degree is required; or an Associate’s degree with two years of experience in sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing; or a high school diploma/GED with four years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software is required
• Must be willing to relocate to other offices
• Frequent travel is necessary
• Must be open to pursuing insurance designations
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is required to finish the training program
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential
• Must be comfortable with frequent travel and geographic mobility
