District Sales Manager – Trainee

📋 Description

• Engage in ERIE’s 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program

• Independently complete assigned projects utilizing the information and skills acquired

• Acquire and execute fundamental responsibilities related to field and home office sales, encompassing sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations

• Support operations in designated Agent offices

• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, Agency operations, and sales techniques

• Discuss potential business opportunities with Agents and clients and collect underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection

• Counsel clients on the necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives

• Accompany sales managers, claims, and underwriting personnel during Agent visits, including short-form inspections

• Cultivate productive relationships with Agents to promote ERIE’s quality growth

• Maintain positive Policyholder relationships as a representative of the company

• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to address issues and related matters

• Respond to inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office personnel concerning claims issues

• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents

• Inspect potential and current risks and prepare reports, including scaled drawings and photographs

• Assist in evaluating inspection results with Policyholders

• Clarify recommendations regarding hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss mitigation measures

• Attend the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars

• Participate in Life and Property/Casualty licensing school and take part in exams

• Complete special projects as needed

• Upon successful completion of training, oversee a territory of approximately 25 Independent Agencies

• Mentor and support Independent Agents in reaching their business objectives

• Manage territory performance encompassing sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management

• Recruit, train, and nurture new Agents

• Act as a trusted business partner and ERIE product resource


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; or an Associate’s degree and two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience required; or a high school diploma or GED with four years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience required

• Proficient knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required

• Willingness to relocate to other offices required

• Frequent travel required

• Commitment to pursuing insurance designations required

• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams required to finish the training program

• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required

• Regular and predictable attendance required

• Comfortable with frequent travel and geographic mobility

• Master’s degree preferred

• Completion of insurance designations such as CIC or CPCU preferred
