This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in the 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program.
• Execute assigned projects autonomously utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired.
• Acquire and implement field and home office sales, sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations.
• Provide assistance with operations in designated Agent offices.
• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Discuss business proposals with Agents and clients, collecting underwriting information for risk acceptance or rejection decisions.
• Counsel clients on necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives.
• Accompany sales managers, claims, and underwriting staff during Agent visits, including short-form inspections.
• Cultivate productive relationships with Agents to enhance ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive Policyholder relationships as a representative of the company.
• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to resolve claims-related issues.
• Address inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office personnel concerning claims matters.
• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents.
• Assess prospective and existing risks and compile reports, including scaled drawings and photographs.
• Assist in reviewing inspection outcomes with Policyholders.
• Clarify recommendations regarding hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss prevention measures.
• Attend the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
• Participate in Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and complete necessary exams.
• Undertake special projects as needed.
• Upon successful program completion, oversee approximately 25 Independent Agencies as a District Sales Manager.
• Mentor and assist Independent Agents in achieving their business objectives.
• Manage territory performance across sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management.
• Recruit, train, and develop new Agents.
• Act as a trusted business partner and ERIE product resource.
• Bachelor’s degree required; or an Associate’s degree with two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience; or a High school diploma or GED with four years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience.
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
• Willingness to relocate to other offices is mandatory.
• Frequent travel is required.
• Commitment to pursue insurance designations is essential.
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is required to finalize the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Comfort with regular travel and geographic mobility is necessary.
• Ability to lead through influence and establish trusted relationships.
