This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Successfully complete ERIE’s 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program.
• Engage in company training and development focusing on sales management, risk management, agency operations, and branch account operations.
• Independently complete assigned projects.
• Assist with operations in designated Agent offices.
• Provide training to Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Discuss proposed business with Agents and clients, gathering underwriting information for risk assessment.
• Advise clients on necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives.
• Join sales managers, claims, and underwriting personnel during Agent visits and short-form inspections.
• Cultivate productive relationships with Agents to support ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive relationships with Policyholders and address claims-related issues with adjusters and claims staff.
• Respond to inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office personnel concerning claims matters.
• Implement sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents.
• Inspect both prospective and existing risks and prepare detailed reports, including scaled drawings and photographs.
• Review inspection outcomes with Policyholders and discuss recommendations for hazard reduction and other loss prevention measures.
• Participate in the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
• Attend Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and engage in examinations.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• Upon successful completion of training, transition into a District Sales Manager position overseeing approximately 25 Independent Agencies.
• Bachelor’s degree required; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience; or a High school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience is required.
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software is necessary.
• Must be willing to relocate to other offices.
• Frequent travel is a requirement.
• Willingness to pursue insurance designations is essential.
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is mandatory to finish the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Must be comfortable with frequent travel and geographic mobility.
