This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in the 24-week District Sales Manager Trainee Program.
• Complete designated projects autonomously using the information and skills acquired.
• Support operations at designated Agent offices.
• Educate Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, Agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Consult with Agents and clients about proposed business and collect underwriting information for risk assessment.
• Provide clients with advice on the necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives.
• Join sales managers, claims, and underwriting staff during Agent visits, including short-form evaluations.
• Cultivate productive relationships with Agents to foster ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive relationships with Policyholders as a company representative.
• Collaborate with adjusters and claims staff to address claims-related issues.
• Respond to inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office staff regarding claims matters.
• Execute sales promotion initiatives and relay pertinent information to Agents.
• Evaluate potential and existing risks and compile reports, including scaled drawings and photographs.
• Assist in reviewing inspection findings with Policyholders.
• Clarify recommendations concerning hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss mitigation strategies.
• Attend the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
• Participate in Life and Property/Casualty licensing school and complete the examinations.
• Undertake special projects as needed.
• Upon successful completion of training, transition to the role of District Sales Manager overseeing approximately 25 Independent Agencies.
• Mentor and assist Independent Agents in reaching their business objectives.
• Oversee territory performance in terms of sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management.
• Recruit, train, and nurture new Agents.
• Act as a trusted business partner and resource for ERIE products.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; or an Associate’s degree accompanied by two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience; or a high school diploma/GED with four years of experience in sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing.
• Proficient knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is essential.
• Readiness to relocate to different offices is required.
• Frequent travel is necessary.
• Commitment to pursue insurance designations is required.
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is mandatory to finish the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Comfort with regular travel and geographic mobility is essential.
• Ability to lead through influence and establish trusted relationships is necessary.
• Capacity to think strategically and take ownership of outcomes is expected.
• Quick learning and adaptability to change are vital.
• Drive to assist others in achieving success is essential.
