This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Engage in ERIE’s 24-week training and development program for District Sales Managers.
• Complete designated projects independently utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired.
• Acquire and execute field and home office sales duties, which encompass sales management, risk management administration, and branch account operations.
• Assist with operations in designated Agent offices.
• Provide training to Agents on product knowledge, underwriting, Agency operations, and sales techniques.
• Discuss proposed business with Agents and clients, gathering underwriting information to assess risk acceptance or rejection.
• Advise clients on the necessary coverages to meet their individual insurance objectives.
• Accompany sales managers, claims personnel, and underwriters during Agent visitations, including short-form inspections.
• Foster productive working relationships with Agents to promote ERIE’s quality growth.
• Maintain positive relationships with Policyholders as a representative of the company.
• Collaborate with adjusters and claims personnel to resolve issues effectively.
• Address inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, and branch office staff concerning claims matters.
• Implement sales promotion programs and relay pertinent information to Agents.
• Inspect potential and existing risks and compile reports, including scaled drawings and photographs.
• Assist in reviewing inspection findings with Policyholders and clarify hazard reduction, elimination, and other loss mitigation measures.
• Attend the annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
• Participate in Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and take part in examinations.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• Upon successful completion of training, transition into a District Sales Manager position overseeing approximately 25 Independent Agencies.
• Coach and support Independent Agents in meeting their business objectives.
• Manage territory performance in areas of sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management.
• Recruit, train, and cultivate new Agents.
• Act as a trusted business partner and ERIE product resource.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with two years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience; or a High school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience.
• A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is necessary.
• Willingness to relocate to other offices is essential.
• Frequent travel is required.
• Commitment to pursuing insurance designations is mandatory.
• Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams is required to finish the training program.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Must be open to frequent and geographic mobility.
• Ability to lead through influence and establish trusted relationships is crucial.
