This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead sales initiatives for both professional and retail horticulture markets within the designated territory.
• Strategically plan, organize, and oversee the comprehensive sales efforts within the assigned area.
• Meet and exceed the sales budget objectives and plans for the region.
• Achieve distribution targets for both professional and retail product lines.
• Define objectives for the territory, distributors, and accounts, and develop plans to achieve them.
• Deliver peat moss and mixes for both professional and retail customers in accordance with approved sales and marketing strategies.
• Execute and manage authorized sales and marketing programs and processes.
• Reach new account and distribution goals.
• Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and potential customers to refine sales strategies.
• Maintain CRM data by accurately documenting sales activities and account information.
• Keep supervisors informed about territory activities and relevant business factors.
• Engage in regional meetings to plan and assess business operations.
• Address customer inquiries, issues, or unique situations concerning product performance.
• Handle company resources and equipment with care.
• Manage territory expense budgets and submit timely reports on sales and expenses.
• Travel to customer locations and distributor sites as needed.
• Strong organizational abilities to plan, prioritize, and oversee activities effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to assess decisions and implement solutions that align with organizational objectives.
• In-depth knowledge of market dynamics, trends, and competitive landscape.
• Proficient in managing multiple distributors with integrity, professionalism, and tact.
• Preferred educational background in horticulture or equivalent experience.
• A genuine passion for horticulture, with experience in lawn and garden retail or plant nurseries.
• Horticulture/Ag Certification is advantageous (State/County courses or continuing education).
• Experience with greenhouse/nursery production is a plus.
• Familiarity with Independent Garden Centers or horticulture departments in hardware stores.
• Willingness and ability to travel to fulfill territory requirements and participate in team activities.
• Approximately 70% travel is required.
