Distribution Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Independently create design and construction work packages for both electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.

• Evaluate client-supplied work and determine scope requirements.

• Conduct structural analysis for wood pole loading and guying calculations.

• Specify conductor sags and tensions for suggested spans.

• Calculate voltage drop and flicker levels.

• Provide engineering support throughout the construction phase.

• Execute post-construction reviews to verify compliance with engineering and construction standards.

• Conduct root cause analyses of outages and devise mitigation strategies using engineering principles and design techniques.

• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design needs.

• Evaluate and create extensive design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in densely populated urban areas.

• Prepare work permits, easements, and right-of-way applications.

• Collaborate directly with clients to uphold Leidos' esteemed reputation for quality.

• Gather field data during customer-site visits as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering is preferred; additional relevant experience or certifications may substitute for a degree.

• Proven experience in executing distribution projects from initiation through design approval, including client interaction and documentation of processes.

• Background in utility reliability projects.

• Proficient in the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

• Must be able to use a personal vehicle.

• Willingness to engage in both fieldwork and office tasks.

• Capability to occasionally work in outdoor environments.

• Ability to visit customer sites for field data collection.

• A valid U.S. driver's license is required.

• Previous experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) is a plus.

• Familiarity with estimating costs, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), and calculating Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC) is a plus.

• Experience with Pole Foreman, O-Calc, or Spida-Calc is a plus.

• Familiarity with the CREWS Work Management System is a plus.

• At least 1 year of relevant management or leadership experience is a plus.
