Distribution Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Independently create design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.

• Evaluate client-supplied documentation and determine scope requirements.

• Conduct structural analysis for wood pole loading and guying calculations.

• Specify conductor sags and tensions for suggested spans.

• Calculate voltage drop and flicker effects.

• Provide engineering assistance during the construction phase.

• Perform post-construction evaluations to ensure adherence to engineering and construction standards.

• Carry out root cause analysis for outages and formulate engineering-based solutions.

• Coordinate with conflicting utilities and other field engineering design needs.

• Assess and create comprehensive design packages for intricate cable/conduit projects in densely populated urban areas.

• Develop work permits, easements, and right-of-way applications.

• Visit customer locations to gather field data that supports work-package development.

• Collaborate directly with clients and assist local utility customers as business needs arise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering is preferred; additional relevant experience or certifications may be accepted in place of a degree.

• Experience managing distribution projects from initiation through design approval.

• Background in customer interaction and process documentation.

• Familiarity with utility reliability projects.

• Proficient in the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

• Capability to use a personal vehicle.

• Willingness to engage in both field and office work.

• Occasional ability to work in outdoor environments.

• A valid U.S. driver's license is required.

• Previous experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) is a plus.

• Experience in estimating costs, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), and calculating Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC) is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Pole Foreman, O-Calc, or Spida-Calc software is beneficial.

• Experience with the CREWS Work Management System is a plus.

• At least 1 year of relevant management or leadership experience is preferred.
