This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop large-scale, real-time services and applications utilizing extensive datasets for both internal APIs and external applications.
• Create tools, libraries, frameworks, and services that support security, research, and data platform initiatives.
• Transform prototypes into dependable internal tools, services, or platform functionalities.
• Engage in planning and technical discussions alongside engineering and product teams.
• Design and maintain data pipelines, messaging systems, databases, caching layers, as well as cloud or on-premises services.
• Work collaboratively with Machine Learning Engineers and Security Researchers to devise solutions that impact security outcomes.
• Take into account ongoing maintenance, monitoring, delivery, and the developer experience.
• Participate in video interviews with cameras enabled.
• Attend in-person onboarding at Censys HQ in Ann Arbor if offered the position.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience in building distributed systems.
• Proficient in object-oriented programming; experience with Go is preferred.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud service provider, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience or knowledge of message queue technologies like AWS Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub, or Kafka.
• Skilled in working with databases such as BigTable, Cloud Spanner, HBase, or Cassandra.
• Knowledge of scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability principles.
• Basic understanding of AI technologies.
• Capability to produce clear, testable, and maintainable code.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and product managers.
• Commitment to responsible AI usage.
• Familiarity with gRPC or REST APIs.
• Knowledge of data serialization technologies like Protobuf or MessagePack.
• Experience in building, deploying, or maintaining containerized services using Kubernetes.
• Understanding of Internet protocols and standards.
• Bonus points for security domain knowledge.
