Director, Transaction Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the Transaction Tax Compliance team, which includes managers, senior managers, and support personnel.

• Oversee compliance operations to ensure accurate and timely submission of returns and payments in accordance with regulatory requirements and client agreements.

• Establish and uphold compliance standards, controls, and operational procedures.

• Drive enhancements to processes to improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and client satisfaction.

• Supervise client transitions from implementation to compliance production.

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex compliance challenges, audit findings, and client issues.

• Collaborate with senior leadership on staffing models, capacity planning, and workforce strategy.

• Lead talent development initiatives, performance management, coaching, succession planning, employee relations, and workforce engagement.

• Assist in recruitment and hiring activities.

• Ensure audit readiness and support SOC and other operational audits.

• Work together with Practice Development and business leaders on client discussions and service positioning.

• Conduct leadership, management, and departmental meetings.

• Support business development and strategic client initiatives.

• Provide hands-on assistance in reviewing returns or resolving issues during peak periods.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

• Over 10 years of experience in transaction tax compliance, with increasing leadership responsibilities.

• Demonstrated experience in leading managers and overseeing extensive compliance operations.

• In-depth knowledge of transaction tax compliance regulations, filing requirements, and operational best practices.

• Strong capability to assess risks, implement controls, and drive compliance excellence.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Proven ability to establish strong client relationships and influence senior stakeholders.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.

• Willingness to travel to client locations as necessary.

• Standard 40-hour work schedule.

• Less than 10% travel requirement.

• Ability to hear, understand, and differentiate speech and sounds.

• Frequent repetitive hand motions.
