This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and implement a comprehensive nationwide strategy for state government affairs that aligns with the business priorities of GE Appliances.
• Monitor, assess, and prioritize state legislative activities, translating policy changes into actionable business implications and plans.
• Act as the representative of GE Appliances in interactions with governors’ offices, state legislatures, agencies, legislative staff, trade associations, coalitions, and policy organizations.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with elected officials, policymakers, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Product, Technology, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Commercial, Communications, and other departments to formulate company positions and advocacy initiatives.
• Lead or orchestrate the company’s responses to key legislation, including testimony, comments, amendments, briefing materials, and other advocacy communications.
• Oversee external government affairs consultants and contract lobbyists as necessary.
• Prepare executives for engagements with government officials and identify opportunities to highlight GE Appliances’ manufacturing footprint, innovation, workforce, investments, and economic contributions.
• Ensure compliance with lobbying, ethics, disclosure, political activity, and reporting requirements in collaboration with Legal and Compliance.
• Track legislative priorities, advocacy efforts, outcomes, metrics, resources, and budget to demonstrate business impact.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, government relations, or a related field, including substantial government experience.
• Strong understanding of state legislative and regulatory processes across various states.
• Capability to analyze intricate legislation, create advocacy strategies, influence outcomes, and communicate effectively with senior executives and non-policy audiences.
• Familiarity with the legal and operational framework of Political Action Committees (PACs).
• Proven ability to establish relationships with policymakers, legislative staff, trade associations, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate within a matrixed organization.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• An advanced degree in law, public policy, government, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in a staff position or closely working with House and Senate committees is preferred.
• Experience leading state government affairs for a national corporation, trade association, or complex organization is preferred.
• Experience managing a multi-state legislative portfolio and issues related to manufacturing, consumer products, energy, environment, product regulation, technology, privacy, labor, tax, transportation, or similar areas is preferred.
• Established connections with state policymakers, national organizations of state officials, business organizations, and government affairs professionals are preferred.
• Experience directing external lobbyists, consultants, trade associations, and coalitions is preferred.
• Strong political judgment, executive presence, business acumen, and the ability to advise senior leaders on political and legislative risks are preferred.
• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S.
