This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Oversee underwriting operations for the Standard Accounts Sharing Economy division.

• Lead and nurture a team of underwriters.

• Evaluate and manage complex risks primarily associated with auto liability, as well as general and excess liability exposures.

• Assess new and renewal business, focusing on pricing, structuring, terms, conditions, and retentions.

• Act as a point of reference for intricate coverage, pricing, and underwriting decisions.

• Review, analyze, and assist in the formulation of manuscript forms and customized policy language.

• Formulate underwriting strategies aimed at fostering profitable growth.

• Collaborate with both retail and wholesale brokers on new and renewal business opportunities.

• Frequently partner with claims, legal, actuarial, and product teams.

• Contribute to the establishment of consistency and clarity in complex and evolving coverage and pricing matters.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience, ideally in commercial casualty, commercial auto, or specialty lines.

• Extensive experience dealing with complex liability risks and non-standard exposures.

• Proficient technical coverage skills, including familiarity with manuscript forms and tailored policy wording.

• Experience in managing or mentoring underwriters is essential.

• Capability to function effectively in an environment characterized by ambiguity and evolving risk challenges.

• Excellent communication, judgment, and decision-making abilities.

• Familiarity with risks associated with Transportation Network Companies, Delivery Network Companies, and Autonomous Vehicles is desirable but not mandatory.

• Strong skills in underwriting and coverage analysis.

• Ability to interpret and create manuscript policy language.

• Proven leadership and coaching abilities.

• Sound judgment in complex and dynamic situations.

• Capacity to balance growth, risk selection, and profitability effectively.

• Proficient in managing relationships with brokers across both retail and wholesale channels.
