
Director, Safety – Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Formulate and implement safety strategies and operations that pertain to comprehensive environmental health and safety programs across the organization.
• Collaborate with both internal and external key stakeholders to enhance the safety culture and elevate business performance.
• Provide overall leadership, professional insight, and expertise in managing and supporting EHS processes.
• Offer expertise and strategic guidance in the design, development, and execution of the environmental health and safety program necessary to meet business objectives and outcomes.
• Direct the strategy and implementation of the safety program to emphasize safety and enhance EHS metrics.
• Create and enforce safety policies, procedures, training, and programs informed by risk assessments, safety regulations, client requirements, and company standards.
• Suggest essential modifications to policies and programs that require adjustments.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA and other regulatory bodies, including conducting regulatory inspections and maintaining communication with regulatory agencies.
• Partner in crafting project-specific safety plans.
• Establish a safety management system for subcontractors.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive HSE experience, including at least 7 years in leadership roles within utility-scale natural gas power generation, heavy industrial, or EPC field execution.
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926, NFPA 70E, ANSI, EPA, and DOT standards.
• Proven track record in leading subcontractor and multi-employer HSE initiatives.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities in both client and legal contract contexts.
• Competence in utilizing safety analytics and predictive data to shape strategy.
• Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills across all organizational tiers.
• Proficient in MS Office, Power BI, and safety management systems.
• Visionary and credible leader who fosters alignment between safety, operations, and performance.
• Compassionate and accountable communicator who promotes psychological safety.
• Data-driven decision-maker who converts lessons learned into systemic enhancements.
• Collaborative partner and trusted advisor to both corporate and field leadership.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record for necessary travel.
• Regular travel is required.
• Demonstrated capability to establish and enhance the safety program within the gas power generation sector or a similar field.
