Director, Reinsurance Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee the reinsurance accounting team tasked with treaty administration, premium and claims accounting, settlements, and recoverables.

• Supervise accounting and financial reporting for XOL, quota share, facultative, stop loss, and retrocession agreements.

• Ensure the precise and timely processing of ceded premiums, loss recoveries, commissions, reinstatement premiums, and premium adjustments.

• Manage month-end and quarter-end reinsurance closing processes while reconciling related general ledger accounts.

• Prepare or supervise Schedule F along with associated statutory and GAAP reporting.

• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and legal teams to interpret and execute treaty terms.

• Review and authorize intricate reinsurance calculations and financial schedules.

• Lead internal and external audits concerning reinsurance operations.

• Ensure proper documentation and control protocols are in place.

• Cultivate relationships with reinsurance brokers, reinsurers, and third-party administrators.

• Drive process enhancements and automation initiatives.

• Monitor regulatory changes to ensure compliance with ASC 944 and SSAP 62R.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA designation preferred.

• Over 8 years of pertinent experience in reinsurance accounting or insurance finance.

• At least 3 years in a leadership position.

• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting standards as they apply to reinsurance.

• Experience with property & casualty reinsurance programs.

• Prior experience in preparing Schedule F and NAIC regulatory submissions.

• Strong leadership and personnel management capabilities.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Strong project management skills with a focus on process improvement.

• Ability to collaborate across functions and influence various levels within the organization.
