This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee a team of Clinical Project Managers, which includes responsibilities for hiring, onboarding, coaching, conducting performance reviews, fostering career development, and succession planning.
• Establish performance benchmarks that align with KPIs, including timely milestone achievement, budget compliance, quality metrics, client satisfaction/NPS, revenue generation, utilization rates, and employee retention.
• Ensure PMs adhere to process discipline, comply with SOPs, and consistently utilize enterprise systems.
• Cultivate and maintain a high-performing team culture centered on ownership, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
• Lead performance enhancement initiatives and disciplinary measures in collaboration with HR as necessary.
• Develop and optimize resource allocation strategies to align supply with portfolio demands.
• Maintain team utilization within designated target ranges while balancing billability with training, mentorship, and business development activities.
• Manage contingency planning for leave coverage, unexpected attrition, and portfolio increases.
• Promote the adoption of SOPs, RACI, and governance frameworks throughout the PM team.
• Engage in Project Review processes to identify risks, guide PMs, reinforce standards, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure timely and precise updates to Planisware milestones, baselines, and financial forecasts.
• Advocate for inspection readiness and monitor portfolio health.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance on CAPA execution, audit responses, and SOP enhancements.
• Represent UBC at governance meetings, business reviews, and escalation calls as required.
• Ensure PMs provide executive-level communication and status reports to clients and internal leadership.
• Work alongside functional heads in Data Management, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Medical Writing, Regulatory Affairs, and Site Management to address resourcing, quality, and delivery challenges.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and Segment leadership on organizational design, compensation strategy, and capacity planning.
• Directly supervise typically 10 to 15 Clinical Project Managers, including Senior PMs and PMs.
• Manage hiring, performance evaluations, compensation suggestions, career growth, and succession planning for the team.
• A Bachelor's degree in life science, health science, or a related discipline is required.
• An advanced degree (MS, PharmD, PhD, MBA) is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of clinical project management experience within a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech environment is necessary.
• At least 5 years of direct management experience is essential.
• Proven history of leading teams in delivering full-service clinical trials, post-authorization safety studies (PASS), registries, and RWE programs.
• Demonstrated capability to lead teams accountable for revenue generation, margin management, and executing change orders across a portfolio.
• Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, resource allocation, risk management, and contingency planning.
• Strong proficiency in enterprise delivery systems (Planisware, CTMS, financial forecasting tools) and productivity platforms (SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Copilot).
• Familiarity with regulatory inspection readiness (FDA, EMA, Health Canada) and GCP/ICH standards.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills at an executive level; ability to distill complex issues into clear decisions and recommendations.
• Proven ability to hold teams accountable to KPIs while nurturing talent and maintaining engagement.

• PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
