This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.
• Take charge of the global commercial success of Scientific Services, encompassing revenue, growth, and profitability.
• Develop the annual strategy and long-term planning, making decisions regarding investments, pricing, and service rationalization.
• Establish the offering strategy, outline a multi-year roadmap, determine market segments, make portfolio decisions, and set competitive positioning.
• Create the customer value proposition and manage pricing, packaging, rate card structure, and supporting business cases.
• Oversee service development from initial concept through to design, business case, pilot, launch, hypercare, and full-scale delivery.
• Manage go-to-market strategies and sales enablement, which includes positioning, qualification criteria, proposal content, pricing guidelines, and training.
• Personally guide the development of strategic and complex pursuits.
• Set and uphold delivery standards through methodologies, governance, quality frameworks, and performance metrics.
• Anticipate demand by building capabilities in science, regulations, laboratory automation, informatics, applied AI, and customer operating models.
• Oversee workforce capability planning and succession for essential expertise.
• Represent the practice in external forums such as customer executive meetings, industry conferences, publications, and strategic partnerships.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop Subject Matter Experts and technical teams.
• Achieve results across regions and functions through influence rather than direct authority.
• Ensure compliance with training in health and safety, security, environmental, and operational aspects of daily activities.
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering field with 12 or more years of progressive experience in scientific, laboratory, or technical services, including at least 5 years of commercial responsibility for a service line, practice, or portfolio, and at least 5 years in a leadership role; OR an advanced degree (MSc, PhD, or MBA) in a relevant field with 10 or more years of similar experience; OR a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
• Preferred advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a life science field, along with an MBA or equivalent commercial qualification.
• Experience in laboratory outsourcing, scientific managed services, or CRO/CDMO environments, whether on the provider or customer side, is preferred.
• Experience working across North American and European markets is preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory informatics (LIMS and ELN), laboratory automation, and applied AI in laboratory operations is preferred.
• Established external presence in scientific operations or laboratory services is preferred.
• Proven ownership of a services offering, practice, or service line with responsibility for revenue, growth, and margin across multiple geographies.
• Application of offering management disciplines to services, including market assessment, value proposition development, pricing and packaging, lifecycle management, and decisions on building, buying, or partnering.
• Strong credibility in scientific and laboratory operations within regulated (GxP) life science environments.
• Demonstrated success in designing, launching, and scaling new services to profitable delivery.
• Ability to influence without authority across a global matrix and communicate effectively to build and defend an investment case.
• Experience in recruiting, developing, and retaining senior scientific and technical experts.
• Capability to work in laboratory or controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing if necessary.
• Flexibility to accommodate multiple time zones.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30–40%, including international travel.
• Ability to remain stationary for over 25% of the time and move occasionally between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings.
• Capacity to occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds, with potential for occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close-range and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
