This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and uphold the enterprise underwriting appetite, standards, and guidelines across all programs in collaboration with the CPO and the CRO’s Actuarial team.

• Oversee and mentor the Underwriting Manager(s); evaluate program-level underwriting audits and authorize findings that need escalation.

• Manage the underwriting aspect of new program due diligence (“underwrite the underwriter”) in partnership with Business Development.

• Provide go/no-go recommendations to the CPO.

• Act as the primary underwriting authority during BAA negotiations, addressing binding authority limits, referral thresholds, and underwriting guideline provisions.

• Collaborate with Legal to finalize BAA language.

• Monitor underwriting audit findings and ensure remediation across the portfolio.

• Report on portfolio-level underwriting quality trends to the CPO.

• Coordinate with Actuarial and Claims on loss experience, emerging trends, and guideline modifications across programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of P&C underwriting experience, including over 4 years in managing or supervising underwriters within a delegated-authority/MGA-oversight setting.

• Proven experience in establishing underwriting guidelines and appetite for a book of business, rather than merely adhering to them.

• Proficient in negotiating binding authority agreement underwriting terms directly with program partners.

• CPCU, AU, or an equivalent underwriting designation is preferred.

• Previous experience in fronting-carrier, program administrator, or MGA-side underwriting leadership is a plus.

• Experience across various lines of business pertinent to Stonehaven’s target programs is advantageous.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
