This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Oversee the strategic direction and implementation of The Max Foundation’s Major Gifts program.
• Identify, nurture, solicit, and manage relationships with high-value individual donors and prospects.
• Formulate and execute a comprehensive Major Gifts strategy that aligns with the organization’s priorities and revenue objectives.
• Set and manage both annual and multi-year revenue targets along with performance metrics.
• Create and maintain a donor pipeline through the processes of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Apply portfolio and moves management techniques to enhance donor engagement and maximize giving outcomes.
• Develop methods to boost donor retention, elevate giving levels, and secure larger, multi-year contributions.
• Monitor pipeline health, forecast revenue, and provide updates on progress towards fundraising goals.
• Collaborate with the CEO, VP of Strategic Partnerships, Board members, and senior leadership.
• Convert organizational impact into engaging philanthropic opportunities and donor communications.
• Prepare leaders and Board members for donor meetings, cultivation activities, and solicitation efforts.
• Promote a culture where fundraising is viewed as a collective organizational responsibility.
• Coordinate donor engagement and stewardship initiatives across the Strategic Partnerships team.
• Utilize Board networks to identify and engage potential donors and strategic stakeholders.
• Prepare fundraising updates for the Board, along with briefing materials and engagement opportunities.
• Support Board members in their roles as ambassadors through outreach, stewardship, and relationship management.
• Track and manage opportunities and outcomes driven by the Board.
• Represent The Max Foundation at global health, philanthropy, and stakeholder engagement events.
• Cultivate relationships with philanthropic collaboratives, family foundations, and strategic partners.
• Establish the organization as a globally recognized leader in equitable access to cancer treatment and care.
• Collaborate with Communications on speaking engagements, publications, and external forums.
• Leverage organizational impact, evidence, and success stories to enhance partnerships, influence, and fundraising results.
• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree or relevant certification in a related field is preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, advancement, business development, strategic partnerships, or similar areas.
• Preferably experienced in global health, international development, or other mission-driven organizations.
• Proven track record of securing and managing major gifts.
• Experience in building relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, and philanthropic partners.
• Experience in securing six-figure gifts is required; gifts of $500,000 or more are strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in building, leading, or significantly expanding a Major Gifts program.
• Experience in developing and managing donor pipelines from the identification and cultivation stages through to solicitation and stewardship.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with CEOs, Board members, senior leaders, and influential stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success in relationship building, communication, presentation, and interpersonal engagement.
• Strategic and analytical mindset with proficiency in using data, donor insights, and CRM systems.
• Experience in managing complex projects and initiatives.
• Experience working in global, multicultural settings across different time zones.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management systems.
• Additional language skills, experience with family offices or donor-advised funds, and experience mentoring fundraising professionals are strongly preferred.
