This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee and evaluate state legislative and regulatory changes impacting Signature Aviation and the aviation sector.
• Organize internal responses and create legislative summaries, issue briefs, presentations, talking points, and various government affairs documentation.
• Establish and nurture relationships with state and local elected officials, state agencies, municipal governments, airport sponsors, and other government stakeholders.
• Create and manage stakeholder maps and engagement strategies for Signature's operational sites.
• Enhance the benefits of Signature's investments in national, state, and regional trade associations.
• Manage the distribution of legislative updates, policy changes, best practices, and association resources throughout the organization.
• Identify avenues for Signature leaders to engage in committees, leadership roles, speaking opportunities, sponsorships, conferences, and other strategic initiatives.
• Monitor committee involvement, sponsorships, and engagement prospects.
• Design new Government Relations programs, tools, and resources.
• Create and implement a grassroots engagement initiative.
• Develop and conduct annual Government Relations training, playbooks, and engagement resources.
• Organize community engagement activities that align with business goals.
• Maintain Government Relations databases, reporting tools, legislative trackers, and stakeholder resources.
• Collaborate with Operations, Legal, Communications, Commercial, Human Resources, and executive leadership.
• Assist in adhering to lobbying registration, ethics, and reporting obligations.
• Travel as necessary for government affairs activities, industry meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement.
• A bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Communications, Business, Aviation Management, or a related discipline.
• Four to seven years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public policy, trade associations, public administration, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of state and local legislative and regulatory processes.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
• Strong skills in relationship-building and interpersonal interactions.
• Capability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to convert policy developments into actionable business insights.
• Experience in supporting grassroots engagement, stakeholder outreach, or community involvement initiatives.
• Good judgment, professionalism, and political consciousness.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legislative or stakeholder tracking software.
• Self-driven with a willingness to learn, take charge of projects, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Government Relations function.
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career in the aviation sector.
• Experience working with or within state and local government is highly preferred.
• Experience with a trade association or advocacy organization is strongly preferred.
• Experience in aviation, transportation, infrastructure, or another regulated industry is preferred but not mandatory.
• Travel as necessary to support government affairs activities, industry meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement.
